TIME. Everyone gets the same amount each day. We measure it, use it, waste it, and lose it—one second at a time. But we often forget where it comes from and why we have it. Adults watch it flashing by and often wish to go back and use it more wisely. Children and youth see it dragging on with no end and little value, to be wished and played away. But no one has all the time in the world; time is limited and we can’t go back and relive it. Time itself had a beginning and it will have an end. It’s time people of all ages see time from a Biblical perspective as a valuable treasure to be used with purpose! “The Time Keeper” VBS 2016 will focus on our Creator, His creation, control, and account of time, and His right to tell us how to use this treasure.

Time is running out! Children have questions and need answers for how everything began, why bad things happen, where Satan came from, why Jesus came, what happens when people die, and how they can be sure of a home in Heaven. They also need the truth about dinosaurs, the age of the earth, and an understanding of a basic Biblical timeline. Let’s not let unanswered questions be the roadblocks that hinder young hearts from coming to the Lord while there is yet time. II Corinthians 6:2 says, “For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

We look forward to serving with churches 

to encourage children and youth to acknowledge God as 

“The Time Keeper” 

and choose to give their hearts and time to Him!

Our typical 2 ½ hour daily VBS format is as follows:

Large Group Session 1 hour

  Opening Skit

  Action Songs and Memory Verses

  Bible Lesson and Invitation

  Other Main Bible Teaching (scattered between songs, etc.)

Small Group Sessions 1 hour 

  We divide the children into 2 groups (Up to 2^nd Grade/ 3^rd and Up) for 1/2 sessions, then switch

·         Active Review - review games and snack (unless the church provides a meal before VBS starts)

·         Book Time – Teacher-directed workbook and activity time 

Wrap-Up Session ½ hour

  Song and Verse Review, Wrap-up Teaching, Announcements

 Questions and Answers

Last week we were invited to teach

 at a public school during an after-school Bible club.

The children had LOTS of great questions. We planned on teaching a half hour on the creation days and then go into a Bible lesson on Jonah, but a question and answer time became the rest of the lesson after the creation days were covered. 

The first through fifth graders wanted to know...   

   Where did God come from?

When were dinosaurs made? 

How could Adam and Eve survive with dinosaurs? 

Why do animals eat each other? 

Did a meteor kill the dinosaurs?

Did dragons breathe fire? 

Where is hell? 

and so much more! 

What a super opportunity! The Lord helped me to answer their questions and to weave the gospel message into this time as well. When the invitation was given, at least one child voiced their desire to be saved OUT LOUD! No one came back for counseling that day, but I am praying for the message to bear fruit. I am thankful for the faithful volunteers who share God's Word each week.

Please pray for these children to come to know the Lord and that we will have many more opportunities to share God's truth with children in the public school setting.

This fall we have been reminded of the Plenty

 we have in the Lord.

Plenty of Reasons to Praise Him!  God is truly Above and Beyond all!

We were able to teach 12 weeks of Vacation Bible School (4 in AL, 2 in FL, 1 in MO, 5 in MN), the most weeks we have ever done in one summer. Look at the pictures below to get a peak at this year’s VBS’s! What a joy to return to churches where we have taught VBS before and see the children and adults growing in the Lord. God also opened the door for us to teach in 5 new churches this year. What a blessing to get to know more church families and help them reach the children in their areas.

Our family did not keep track of total attendance, which seemed larger to us than last year; but we did record professions of faith and are excited that 68 children and at least one adult were saved during VBS! We are thankful for reports from some churches that are growing in number and fervor since we were with them. Please pray that each church can continue to work with these dear ones to grow them up in the Lord.

We were also able to attend a Family Camp Bible School where we sang a few songs and Stan taught one session. After VBS was over, we drove down to MO teach the children at a fall Chinese retreat. We have also provided piano accompaniment, preaching, teaching, and special music for church services. Teaching an after-school Bible Club at a public school this past week was a great joy. The children had lots of questions and God’s Word had the answers!

Stan’s congestive heart failure and A-fib discovered in August of last year did not keep him from ministry this summer. We praise God to report his heart function is now back to normal although his A-fib still needs work. His diabetes is also improved and the diabetic sores on his foot and legs are gone!

Plenty of Opportunities to Trust Him!  God is good all the time!

Our summer ministry went through Labor Day and after that much of our time has been taken up with doctor’s visits, recovering from the constant travel, and preparing for the next phase of ministry. Stan has been undergoing monthly shots in his eyes to prevent blindness, but it seems his eyes are getting worse, not better. He just underwent a sleep apnea test. The cardiologist is concerned that the sleep problems he has had for years could be tied to his heart problems. 

Bryan’s hemoglobin level is low even after several iron shots, which is not helping his energy level or blood flow to his brain. Scar tissue in his arms is making it hard to get IV’s in these days. The platelets in his blood are very high, which is dangerous; and we are working at getting that number down. Please pray that these will go down to a more normal range soon! The EEG he had done did not seem to link his jerking to brain seizure activity. He will be seeing a neurologist October 30. We are also trying some different strategies to help him get better sleep. We need prayer for healing, wisdom, and more energy!

God has opened up a winter headquarters for us down south! We plan to head down there before it snows, but it’s hard to calculate the timing of such in MN. There is still a lot to do before we can take off, including more important doctor’s appointments, sorting through and packing more of what we need, and getting it stuffed in our van, small car, and trailer. We are excited by God’s faithfulness!

2015 Summer Ministry 

We had an amazing summer seeing God show Himself to be Above and Beyond all! Here is a brief look at the 12 "Above and Beyond" VBS weeks with which God blessed us. We had good attendance for most of the summer; and no matter the number, we trust that it was just what He purposed. The Holy Spirit worked mightily and 69 hearts made professions of faith in Jesus Christ! Let's remember to Look Up and put Christ above all in our heart and life daily!

This year’s VBS “Above and Beyond!” is a message from God Who is above all and has power and wisdom beyond our understanding. Let’s Go with God!

January 2015 News

This last month we have done a lot of looking.

Looking back at the past year, we see how God worked in amazing ways on our behalf.

He opened the doors that allowed us to be a part of the fellowship and ministry of many church families. To present the truth of Creation and proclaim our great Creator Saviour and His Gospel with both previously and newly composed Creation Presentations. We were privileged to get know many individuals and share what the Lord is doing in their lives and ours.

He allowed us to create last year’s VBS curriculum, “Talking Rocks Ranch.” It was a joy to teach it in 10 churches as well as present part of it at a couple of churches before the summer began. The children and adults who attended really seemed to enter into the “Old West” fun and the Lord gave us great freedom to share the message, “Be Ready Next Time!” that the rocks laid down by the Flood cry out. We have a great God who judges sin but also remembers mercy and extends forgiveness and grace to those who turn to Him in faith and obedience. We are so grateful for the 25 professions of faith.

Looking up in trust that God is faithful.

When Stan was diagnosed with multiple heart conditions in the middle of our second to last VBS, we were suddenly minus a key person for our VBS ministry. God was not surprised and provided us with people who were willing to step in and fill the gap for those two weeks. In the weeks and, in fact, months that followed, we focused on the health issues that were keeping Stan from being able to preach, sing, or even talk for some time due to coughing spells, weakness, and doctor’s orders. The Lord used many of you to provide for our financial needs during that time.

Our laptop finally had to be retired and the Lord graciously provided us with a much newer one in time for the Chinese Retreat that we taught over Christmas. It was a wonderful 5 days with 230 young hearts to minister to, many who came back each day with questions, and 8 professions of faith. Sadly, during the transfer to the new computer, we somehow lost all the pictures we had downloaded onto it since April 2014, including all our 2014 VBS pictures. The new PowerPoint program is also much more advanced than the old one, and our presentations have been greatly darkened and altered due to the change. We praise God our Rock for allowing us to make the changes needed in time for each of the teaching sessions at the Chinese Retreat to make them work. Please pray for Jessica as she needs to re-create all of our presentations using the new program.

Looking forward to what God has for us next.

With our health improved, we are getting excited about what the Lord has in mind for 2015. Brainstorming is taking place for this year’s VBS Curriculum and we are happy to say that our theme is going to be uplifting with our working title of “A Message from Above!” We are praying for wisdom and direction for this, as well as speaking engagements and other ministry opportunities. Thank you for your much needed prayers for us and the many other ways you have supported our family and ministry.

Praise the Lord for this past summer of VBS ministry! What a mighty God we serve!

Psalm 145:10  "All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee."

The Lord enabled us to have 9 full weeks of VBS plus one day of VBS at a church that had to forgo its intended week. We also were able to speak at an overnight church activity and Saturday event as well as some preaching in between! We saw many children come back for counseling and rejoice in the decisions to trust in Jesus and for the growth and desire to follow God that was expressed by young people and adults. "Talking Rocks Ranch VBS" was a lot of old time country fun, but more importantly it was a way to reach boys and girls of all ages with the vital truths of God Almighty Who is the Rock of our Salvation! He is the One deserving of praise!

This quote by G. W. Griffith is a reminder of this truth.

"Sing odes to nature," murmurs the agnostic. "Do homage to reason," demands the rationalist. "Praise the virtue of wine and pleasure," cries the sensualist. "Crown Mars the god of war," shouts the conqueror. "Sing of me," arrogantly demands the self-worshipers; but singing birds and murmuring brooks and rustling leaves and thundering oceans are vocal in praise to heaven's King, and, if man refuses to join the chorus, the stones will cry out. "All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee."

Thanking the Lord for our first week of VBS being accomplished and for the lives that were touched through it! One young boy trusted in the Lord and brought several visitors throughout the week. The children gave testimonies of noticing "millions of years" talk in magazines and such and were able to point out the error in this thinking as God did not use millions of years or evolution to make this world. Nothing is millions of years old as everything was first created by God only about 6,000 years ago!

The summer ministry kicked off last week with our first "Day at Talking Rocks Ranch!" using the brand new VBS curriculum God has enabled us to write. It was a small turnout, but God is not limmited by numbers. We have hopes to come back to this same church next year, but with a different approach of going into several neighborhoods with backyard Bible clubs teaching next year's curriculum. Sunday the 18th was a full day ministering in two churches. Wednesday night Dad shared on how language is given to us by God and shows we have a Creator. Sunday the 25th Bryan was ill. Stan and Jessica were able to sing specials at a church. Bryan is feeling some better. Praise the Lord! 

The second week of June begins our VBS summer ministry in earnest. We are trusting Jesus Christ our Rock to show Himself strong and work in the lives of the children, young people, and adults who come. Pray for us, brethren. 

Thanks again to the Davison Family for supplying many of the materials and giving of their time to help with this year's VBS decorations and visuals! Here are a few pictures from our time together. We got a lot done and we still had time to play around with a huge tire that Isaac tied up for one night in the tree. :-)

Feeling blessed to have had so many volunteers help out with VBS visuals, props, and animation! There is more to do, but it is wonderful to see things taking shape. I am praying that the children will not only enjoy seeing these tangible things, but that they will be given the spiritual eyes to see and accept God's Word and amazing Gospel!

We are excited to be driving to Saint Peter in a few minutes to meet our dear friends the Davison family and pick up some materials they have gathered and given to us for making VBS backdrops, props, and visuals. Their great young people Hannah and Isaac are coming back with us to give us several days of their time, energy, and talents in making said materials for VBS! We will also be picking up a copier Mr. Davison's work has donated to our ministry. There are a few things we need to find at a thrift store along the way, like queen sheets to paint backdrops on. Please pray for a safe and successful time in town and for the Lord to bless this family and the preparations for VBS during this week!

So excited! I have sent the first three of five short sketch scripts for our "Fossil Feature" off to be drawn and animated by the amazing animator Miranda Markley. Looking forward to sharing her work again at VBS this summer!

                    Looking at the world today, what do we see?

Millions of Rocks NOT Millions of Years!

The millions-of-years evolutionary thinking is everywhere. So many people believe in them and therefore disregard or reject God and His Word. Textbooks, museums, coloring books, movies, national park and overlook signs, billboards, the media, and more are pushing this theory as if it were fact. Is it important how and when these rock layers were laid down and the fossils made? Why do they want to label the rocks, fossils, dinosaurs, etc., as millions of years old? What do the rocks really tell us? How can I recognize and counteract the false and hidden messages of evolutionary thinking? And would God really send a flood? How could the ark have held all those animals? These questions and more will be answered as we take a look at how the Rocks cry out the message of the Flood. We will see that God is the Creator and Righteous Judge, why He sent this worldwide punishment, and how to avoid judgement in the future.

        Talking Rocks Ranch VBS 2014 is a fun look at rocks…               and a serious look at their message!

“Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch” is a daily skit that teaches aspects of “rockology” in a humorous Wild West style, while also helping the children to be aware of evolution's sometimes hidden anti-God messages and the truth they are trying so hard to cover up.

Monuments in Stone will highlight a few of the many amazing National Monuments the Flood left behind.

Message in Stone: God's Word never changes just as God never changes. He is our Rock. We will study key passages about stones in the Bible, what God taught through them, and how to respond to His message.

“Floodology” will take a look at conditions before the Flood, building the ark, a day in the ark, the Flood, and conditions after the Flood.

Rock Handling and a Field Guide will provide hands-on projects and workbook activities to take home.

The Chuck Wagon will offer tasty grub to one and all.

Memory Rodeo gives our rock hounds and rock hunters opportunity to exercise and cement learning.

Flood Legends from around the world are another witness that the Flood was truly around the world. It covered the earth!

If Rocks Could Talk: This daily “Talk Show” gives rocks a chance to be heard.

Fossil Feature is a fun glimpse of what fossils might say about the evolutionary lies told about them.

Increased Opportunity
It had been a very long day and it would be a much longer night. We had finally finished preparations for the trip and had driven an hour on our way south when I discovered I had left an essential item at home. What?! Could I really be that forgetful? Yes, unfortunately, I could be. We still had about six hours to drive to make it to our destination in Missouri, but first Mom and Dad would graciously make the almost two-hour trip home and back, while Bryan and I did some last minute shopping.

We were excited to be headed down to Kansas City where we would be teaching the third through sixth graders at the 2013 Christian Chinese Retreat. We would be sharing the VBS curriculum we had taught that summer. I felt I knew what to expect. After all, we had done it last year. A lot would happen in the next few days. I was trying not to think about how we would somehow drag ourselves out of bed after ariving in Missouri around 4 a.m. and head for the hotel where the retreat would be held. We planned to meet with others and transform a huge room into a castle-themed classroom, with activity, counseling, and team registration areas. That night the children would arrive and five days of teaching would begin. It would end on Christmas Day and then we would see Kevan, Deana, and Tirzah that night. Bryan and I were happily roaming the store with a giggling doll for Tirzah, when we got the call.

"Who can't come?"
"The first and second grade teachers who live in Arkansas? Oh, that is too bad!"
"The first and second graders are joining us?"
"You mean we will have first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth?!"
"Of course we will do it!"

Suddenly I felt the need to call our helpers and make sure they would be there!
Bryan reminded me that this was a great opportunity and I agreed. It was definitely an opportunity. The Lord was reminding us to rely on His power and not our program. I was feeling a little weak as I tried to adjust things in my mind. More grades meant more children. More children meant more groups and more organization needed to keep snack time, bathroom breaks, etc., from becoming chaos. I wasn't too worried though. I knew the Lord would help Aunt Stacy and me to figure it out. Besides, we had four extra workers coming that I knew would be great.

"You are not sure you can come?"
"The roads are supposed to be covered in ice and snow?"
"I agree. Driving back and forth that distance would be dangerous, but there has to be some way. We need you girls!"

My tired brain was whirling around trying to figure a way for this to work when my brother came up with a logical solution. Now to make calls to several hard-to-get-a-hold-of people and hope they all agreed with our idea.

"Dear Jesus, please help this to all work out for your glory! You know we need these workers!"

 Praise God, He answered this prayer and so many more during the week!

Answers to prayer:
* Our extra workers, the Cahill ladies, were able to come.
* Registration went very well the first night and for every session that followed.
* The Lord gave us ideas to keep things organized and ways to improve as the week progressed.
* We were able to set everything up in time for the children that first day. It looked like a castle!
* My computer did not give me awful fits like last year as I adjusted PowerPoint to fit the schedule.
* The staff was unified, prayerful, and had some opportunities to fellowship.
* Bryan and Stan were healthy and strong enough to do their parts in the teaching.
* Susan was able to balance her part in the teaching with the care of her family.
* Jessica was able to stay energetic and do her duties as lead teacher on less sleep than desired.
* The children were attentive and open to the teaching as a whole. Pray for those few hardened       hearts.
* The children learned the songs and verses well and participated in the learning and dragon legends.
* Parents were encouraged by the things their children told them from the teaching.
* Only a few children got sick and no child was injured in our care during the week.
* We were able to take 194 children up two stories in the hotel and assemble them on the stage and in the aisles of the huge meeting room for the Parent Program. This was done in record time and order, even though we didn't have all our team leaders. God provided a few extra helpers for this endeavor! Praise the Lord! The children sang three songs and quoted the scripture passage they had learned during the first four days of the retreat.
* We felt the Holy Spirit's presence and saw children drawn to Christ, attitudes change, and God work.

We praise God for increasing our ability to share His Word and way of salvation with more precious souls (194!) by giving us the first and second graders as well as the third through sixth. During the retreat nine children made first-time professions of faith in Christ and fourteen prayed for assurance of salvation. Many others came back to ask questions. One little girl trusted in Christ the second night, after definitely telling me she did not want to be there only a few hours before. It was a blessing for me to get to counsel with her and hear her heartfelt prayer to her Saviour. In the days that followed, she went back during the invitation several times with questions, concern for her friends to be saved, and wanting the Lord to help her do things that were hard for her. This second grader was just one of many who made Christ her King and encouraged me to not be weary in His service. Christ desires to increase our opportunities. May we be willing for them to increase and to allow Him to make us able.  

Please pray.. 
* For those who have yet to bow the knee to Christ as Saviour.
* For some with hard hearts who say they know Christ, but don't seem to be interested in Him or have respect for His word being taught or their authorities. 
* For the baby Christians who need to grow.
* For the families these children belong to. May the parents, grandparents, siblings, and others be drawn to Christ and follow Him.
* That the children will remember the things they were taught and allow Christ to continue to work in their hearts.
* That God will increase both our and your opportunities to serve Him.

Watch Your Step!

It is said that the average person will take about 2,000 steps for every mile they walk. Most of us will take multiple thousands of steps each day just doing our daily routine.

Even if you only took 5,000 steps a day (which is considered lower than average), you would make a total of 35,000 steps a week. In an average month that would be 1,085,000 steps. And in one year, it would equal a little under 13,000,000 steps.

That is a lot of steps! And most of us will take thousands or even millions more depending on our occupations, inclinations, and abilities. 

Thousands of steps sound important and indeed are necessary to keep us fit and allow us to reach our goals and destinations, but what about just one step.
Is one step important?     
What difference can one step make? 

     One Sunday night--a little over a week ago--I took a step that got my attention. 
I had slung the computer bag over one shoulder, filled one arm with our family stack of Bibles, notebooks, etc., and clutched the projector bag with my free hand. It had been a great Lord's Day with the opportunity to teach children's church and present the ministry in the morning service and then share a creation presentation that night. 
     Many of the church members had already finished visiting after the service and were headed home. I was fulfilling my self-appointed role of packing things up and stowing them in the van while my family continued visiting with those who remained. I was in a bit of a hurry as we had a family coming over after church for a late supper, and I knew it would take several trips to get everything loaded, not to mention the time needed for final goodbyes. It was a bit dark outside the church as I walked down the sidewalk toward where our van was parked.
     My mind was thinking ahead to what needed to be done before company arrived. I further distracted myself by looking out at the truck stop across the street. I had talked to a young man who worked there a few days before. Had he read the tract I gave him as promised? Would he overcome his childhood grudge and visit one of the many good churches in the area I had recomended? Too bad I hadn't realised at the time that this church was so close and that we would be speaking and singing there! It was such a lovely evening. To think that tomorrow was expected to be wet and cloudy with the approach of Tuseday's projected storm. Well, we would be leaving tomorrow in time to avoid it. Such thoughts darted through my head in less time than it takes to read them as I walked steadily toward the van. 
     Suddenly, with one step, I was lying on the ground. I had unknowingly stepped off the sidewalk in such a way that I had fallen, scattering my cargo. I felt vaguely that I had hit my left knee upon the cement curb where I now half sat in front of the van. I wanted to get up, but the growing pain in my right ankle screamed for me to be still. "Dear Father, Help Me!" "Dear Jesus, Help Me!" I tried not to faint from the pain. The almost empty parking lot, the remembrance that the door had locked behind me, the knowledge of my parents' propensity to fellowship till the last moment did nothing to ease my mind. I cried out to God louder and louder. 
     I was in too much pain to truly consider what type of damage may have been done. A wave of nasea swept over me and the pain intensified. If only someone would come out and see me. I wanted my Mother! I tried to think where my phone was. If I could just find it...but, no, it was in my purse on the front row in the sanctuary. I began to call out for Mom. "MOM! MOM!" I felt like one of the bawling calves I had ridden behind during a cattle drive at a friend's ranch a few days before. I sounded pathetic, but I didn't care. I needed help! 
    What a relief to see the church door swing open a few moments later. God knew exactly what was needed. The first one out the door was a search and rescue worker. He sent one of his children to fetch my parents and immediately checked my now HUGELY swelling ankle. Good news! It was not broken, but severely sprained (we didn't know it then but my foot itself was also sprained). He carefully deposited me into the van and gave us some things to do and watch for. I will save you the explanation of my treatments, countless groans, apologies to my family, and their words of comfort; and simply say that even one step can make a great impact.

       reminded me of the importance of each step we take--not only physically, but in our 
       lives as a whole. I need the Lord to guide my steps.

I have just now begun to take a few tentative steps again. I trust I will soon be able to walk without pain and once more think it no great thing to take thousands of steps each day. But I pray that I will watch my step. I want each step I take to be sure, steady, and on the Lord's path for my life so I need to follow His direction. A misstep off a sidewalk can cause pain and change plans, but a misstep off the Lord's Way can have much more damaging consequences for a Christian. I thank the Lord that He is merciful and even in times of failure upholds us. These verses are wonderful promises. 

 "The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: 

and he delighteth in his way. 

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: 

for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand."

Psalm 37:23-24

These are believed to be fossilized hadrosaur eggs (duck billed dinosaur). They were dug up in the Xixia Basin, Henan Province, China.

Three Toed Dinosaur Track!

Believed to be the track of an Acrocanthosaurus

This trace fossil was excatated from the Paluxy River bank near Glenrose Texas. This formation is famous for many dinosaur tracks including the first sauropod tracks ever discovered. Human fossilized footprints were also found alongside some of the dinosaur tracks!
